   John C. North   

Born and raised in Easton, Maryland, Judge North attended local schools and received degrees from the University of Virginia and Harvard Law School. He practiced law locally with his father as well as serving for 9 years as State's Attorney for Talbot County, 18 years as Judge of the District and Circuit Courts, and 12 years as Chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Commission. He is a founding member and past president of The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in S. Michaels.

For over 60 years, Judge North has captained the log canoe "Island Bird"(1820built by his great grandfather) and won every major log canoe trophy. He also owns log canoe"Island Blossom"(1882) and was named Captain of the Chesapeake by former Maryland Governor Schaeffer in 1992.

Widely known as a collector/restorer of fine vinatge automobiles, he was active in the establishment of the St. Michaels Concours d'Elegance. 

He has designed and sculpted all of the trophies it has awarded. His award winning abstarct and semi-representational sculpture may be found in numerous private collections.
