    Sarah Stolte

Sarah Stolte grew up in Pittsford, New York, a suburb of Rochester. She was encouraged as a child to broaden her interests in art and music, with art classes at The Memorial Art Gallery and music instruction at the Eastman School of Music. She earned her degree in mathematics at Hollins University, and continued with art history studies there. Always an admirer of art, by the late 1980's she decided to become a participant, rather than an observer. She started taking evening classes in drawing and paintng at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia while continuing her professional career in information systems.

She and her husband moved to Trappe, Maryland in 1992, but she didn't pick up a brush again for ten years. In 2005, she decided to focus more seriously on her art and studied under a number of prominent artists. Her first paintings were in watercolor but she now prefers working with oils. She moved her studio to Cambridge in 2009 to give her a dedicated place to continue her painting and currently works out of the Artists Loft Studios there.

Today she participates in area art shows including: Plein Air Easton Local Color, where she has won seeral awards, and the St. Michaels Art League Labor Day Show.
